Seven questions to ask before you book a hotel jacuzzi room

37% of Google review comments about hotel hot tubs are complaints (15,190 of 41,069 across 1,858 hotels). Most are avoidable with a phone call. Ask these before you pay.

The questions

  1. Is the tub in the room I am booking? Name the room type. "Hot tub" on a listing often means the pool.
  2. Is it a jetted tub or a soaking tub? Soaking tubs have no jets.
  3. Is it working this week? Out-of-order tubs are the top complaint.
  4. Does it fit two? Only 4.6% of the rooms we list say so.
  5. How long does it take to fill? Old water heaters can run cold before the tub is full.
  6. Can you guarantee the room type? Some hotels only "request" it.
  7. Is there a fireplace too? 14.2% of tub rooms have one, if you want both.

When to ask

Before you book, and again the day before you arrive. Ask for the room by its name on the booking page.

Questions

Can a hotel move me out of the jacuzzi room?

If you booked a named room type, it should not. If you only added a request, it can.

Are hotel jacuzzis clean?

They are drained after each guest. Run the jets with clean water for a minute before you get in if you are unsure.
